The anime dating sim went viral on social media this week thanks to its strange if not promising premise. The indie otome was created to help fans prepare their U.S. federal tax return by seducing an anime girl named Iris. Millions of people have learned about the dating sim thanks to its viral rounds on social media, but the fame was a double-edged sword. Bad ends, like the aforementioned assassination, exist to teach players how to engage with most dating sims. Since dramatic romances are often the main focus of these games and are necessary to lead the stories along their branching paths, you are expected to fulfill your obligation as a good sport and at least attempt to fall in love. Or else the game really won’t know what to do with you, and thus you will be punished.
Stardew Valley may seem like an interesting choice here as it’s a farming simulator game. The title was developed as a spiritual successor to the old-school Harvest Moon franchise. Once you get a match, you go on a date and put on the charm for your new feathered friend.
The story unfolds in dramatically different ways depending on which bird you attempt to romance. One of my favorite storylines involved courting a bird that lived as though he were a character in a role-playing game, complete SeniorFriendFinder with dragging me into a turn-based boss fight. Another brought me into the path of the aforementioned eccentric — and rather unhinged — track star, who inspired me to join his quest to find the one true pudding.

It’s all pretty eccentric, but the game earned itself a cult following and critical acclaim for the quality of its character writing. As you can see in the trailer below, Lovebirb is a dating sim that has a lot to offer players who usually steer away from the genre. With the dates taking place in rhythm-based minigames, it offers a fresh take on dating games. However, you will still have to choose your words carefully, like in similar, less bird-themed titles.
